Who are we?
The Nekudat Hen program was established by Yad Hanadiv in 1999 as a framework for promoting various agricultural-ecological projects and a broad environmental outlook. The fund aims to build a base of inter-disciplinary professional knowledge on the subject of multi-functional landscape agriculture in Israel. The fundamental premise is that intelligently managed agriculture can provide needed food and an important source of livelihood, protect the environment and preserve human culture and heritage.
The Nekudat Hen program offers an opportunity to meet, learn and discuss for researchers in the fields of agriculture, biology and environmental studies, as well as for farmers, activists from environmental organizations and decision-makers in the fields of agriculture, environment and planning. The projects promoted via Nekudat Hen’s framework – including its activities to disseminate accumulated knowledge via seminars and publications – seek to build an academic and practical foundation that will contribute to creating a common language among the various disciplines and stimulate knowledge-based discussion between stakeholders in the fields of agriculture.
What do we do?
- Support for practicable and short-term research that studies environmental aspects of multi-functional agriculture. Every year, Nekudat Hen supports a maximum of eight projects that contribute to broadening knowledge about the various applications of landscape agriculture and its ramifications for the environment, the landscape, natural resources and the quality of life.
- To date, over seventy different projects have been conducted in the framework of Nekudat Hen.
- Nekudat Hen convenes an annual seminar devoted to presenting the research conducted under its auspices. Experts from abroad deliver the keynote lecture at the seminar.
- Publication of the results of the projects, seminars and special projects via Nekudat Hen’s Internet site. For an up-to-date call for proposals for the year 2011,click here
